Lecture online; interactive or pre-recorded
A pandemic and crisis affect us all in a number of different ways. We take note of figures on rising death rates, news with frightening images and increased restrictions that in many ways limit our lives.
Maybe you lost a family member, colleague or friend in the pandemic? I'm worried about getting sick or infecting someone else yourself. What happens when everyone in the family is asked to work or study from home as much as possible? What does that do to our relationships and behaviors? Many worry about their finances, thoughts about unemployment, layoffs and bankruptcy. What do the restrictions on distance, non-existent proximity and quarantine do to us in the longer term?
Many of us today experience ourselves both stressed, scared and anxious. Our stress system has been developed for thousands of years and has helped us survive. We are built to cope with short-term stress, but in a longer-term crisis like a pandemic, HOW we deal with stress and anxiety become important parameters.
During the lecture, we learn why anxiety creates reactions such as stress. We get to take part in and try out a number of powerful tools to deal with both thoughts and emotions such as fear, anxiety and anxiety. And why it can be helpful to strive to be more in the present and become aware of what is really important to you. And how you can get there.
The tools are powerful and at the same time easy to learn and can be used right away. The lecture is based on ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) which is one of the newer forms of therapy included in the so-called third wave CBT. The methods and tools within the ACT have been shown to be effective in areas such as stress, anxiety/anxiety.
The course leader, Liselott Adsjö,is a trained and CBT therapist and has long experience of working with stress and anxiety even trained Couples and Family Therapists. She also conducts courses and lectures from outside the ACT.
